Busy Busy Busy

Clackety-clack
This has been a great week in terms of work and writing-related by-products. In addition to turning in a fun outline for my next Littlest Pet Shop script, I was able to swing by a certain place to pick up my assignment for the sooper-seekrit new project that I've been praying/hoping to be a part of. A non-disclosure agreement prevents me from telling you anything about it at this time (insert "but I'd have to kill you" joke here or, more accurately, a "they would have to kill me" joke), but let's just say it would be an awesome show to work on and I'll share details when I'm allowed to do so.

To give you an idea of how excited I was to be at the certain place, I hugged the producer of the show -- twice -- and I'm not much of a hugger at all. Fortunately, she's a friend and seemed to accept the hugs in the spirit they were intended.

As a bonus, I got a lot of work done on Giantkiller -- reorganizing it from a prologue and seventeen chapters of disturbingly uneven length (the shortest being 917 words and the longest being 14,058) to a prologue and thirty much more balanced chapters.

So, as stated, a great week. Go busy-ness!

Okay, you'd BETTER spill the beans about this soon or I'm going to get very angry. Don't make me angry, Mr. Eschbacher. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.

About your uneven chapters... I find that hilarious! You weren't even making an attempt at chapterizing, were you? You were just writing and getting carried away. That's okay, though, as long as you didn't have any trouble later finding natural chapter breaks in your ongoing prose. Great to hear that you're about done though. You had twenty-seven chapter in the first book, so I assume you're finished with Book 2 now? *rubs hands*

Keith, Oh, I will spill the beans when I can. Believe me, I will.

As far as the chapterizing goes, I like to start off with an outline and a rough idea of how many chapters I'll have and generally I stick to that. This time, however, I was all over the place in terms of chapter length and that bothered my "precise" (anal retentive) nature. As you mentioned, I had twenty-seven chapters in the first book and they were generally all of the same length, but, again, this time I was appalled at the unevenness of the chapter length. No matter. I'm getting close to getting everything into publishable condition and hope I'll be able to impose on you again to cast your eagle eye on my humble sequel.

You most certainly can impose on me again! I accept your imposition with eagerness.

Keith: To quote Mr. Burns from The Simpsons, "Ehhhhxcellent!"

It's always encouraging when you are able to finally get to writing and see something produced at the end! Writing can be daunting, and it definitely takes time. So productivity is great!

Giancarlo, That's the truth! In animation, especially, there's so much lead time before a show hits the air, it can get pretty exciting when it finally does.

In general, I'd much rather be busy than not. (Aren't most people like this?) When it comes to writing, in particular, it's very hard for me not to be working on something -- whether that something is paid or "on spec." (fyi: paid is better)
