FINALLY!!!

How I currently feel
If any of you were wondering where I've been for the last month or so, I've been writing and writing and writing (and writing) -- slogging my way through the last few chapters of my 2009 NaNo effort, "Caden Brave". Well, today, I did it. I typed the closing words of my first draft. FINALLY!

Mind you, this is only the first draft, but now the hard part is over. I'm going to file it away for a month or so and get caught up on the skillions of other things I'm working on to get work. Then I'll pick it back up and start with the fixes, the part of writing that I truly enjoy.

The first draft closing stats: Caden Brave, A middle grade space opera, 66553 words/307 pages.

One more time...FINALLY!!!

Finally!!! :-)

Congratulations on finishing. It's always a nice feeling. I finished my Book 3 a few weeks ago (about 100,000 words) and am currently editing and sending out to a couple of proofreaders. I aim to publish it in June.

Be interested to hear how you find your book on the next read-through, when you're a little more "fresh." You'll either spend days and weeks rewriting bits, or you'll breeze through with simple line edits -- or both!

Thanks, Keith! I'm aware of several minor plot holes but other than those, I think the story is relatively tight. We'll see.

Hopefully, the first edit won't be too painful. I'll update after my initial read-through.

Well done, I have recently started writing my book for the national novel writing month site, did'nt realise what I was letting myself in for when I joined but I thought it may give me the kick I need to get it finished.

Thank you, Jarrod. Yes, Nano is a lot of work and a kick in the pants. I love it!
